The Summer of Bodwell Bears

The summer term of 2015 at Bodwell will forever be known as the summer of the Bodwell bears. On May 1st we started a photo contest for all of Bodwell’s community to send in pictures of our cute and furry mascots. It was a resounding success: we had pictures from students, alumni, staff, marketers and agents from all over the world flying in. In total during the 6 weeks of the contest, we received over 200 photo entries.

Some of the most creative photos were taken by the dorm photography group run by Andrew Moll, a Senior Student Advisor. In fact, Andrew won the first weekly contest with his excellent photo titled ‘Spring is in the air’ that showed a bear blowing a Dandelion.

As well as the 200+ entries, we had visits and entries from 14 countries with Russia and Ukraine making up the most. After the contest closed on June 15th, the top 20 photos were selected to appear in a voting gallery that anyone could vote on. After 2 weeks of voting, the winner of the GoPro Hero 3 camera was revealed…

We had votes from all over the world, including over 200 different people from Turkey, 89 from Taiwan and 30 from Japan.
