3-Minute Video Highlights - Making of a 21st Century Boarding School

Bodwell’s East Wing Opening Ceremony

On Thursday, September 7th, 2017 Bodwell High School officially opened its new East Wing. The new section of the school consists of 7 floors of new rooms for male boarding students and other modern facilities. These include a second gymnasium, second cafeteria, auditorium, new library, presentation centre, classrooms, reception area, atrium, as well as underground parking. The construction project began over two years before and so the school had been waiting for a long time for completion. This is why the official opening was such an important event. It represents the start of Bodwell as a full boarding school with over 500 boarding places on-site, as well as enabling the school to offer a more expansive and ambitious academic and student life program.

Bodwell invited many important contributors and dignitaries from the local Vancouver community to the ceremony. These people included but weren’t limited to Mr Doug Scott (Architect), Ms Maria Espitia (Colombian Consulate), Mr Peter Froese (British Columbia Independent School Federation), Ms Akira Uchida (Japanese Consulate), Mr Alan Schroeder (Ministry of Education), Mr Craig Keating (North Vancouver Acting Mayor), Mr Xiao Jun (Chinese Consulate), Ms Elizabeth Brin (British Columbia International Education Association), Mr Bob Baker (Squamish Nation Elder), Mr Peter Lambur (West Vancouver District Civic Councilor), Mr Fidel Herrera (Mexican Consulate), Mr David Webbe (Darwin Construction Founder & CEO).

Here we present you with video highlights of the event, the full speeches from speakers and photos of the event.
