A group of students interested in studying science and medicine at university took part in a full day symposium at the University of British Columbia on Friday, May 29th to explore the world of microbiology and antibiotics. They got a snapshot of what a UBC lecture would look like by engaging in a discussion with Professor Julian Davies about bacteria and antibiotic resistance. They then explored various topics about antibiotic resistance, alternatives to antibiotics, and the future of ‘super bugs’ in a variety of workshops. Hopefully these future scientists can help to answer some of these questions, or better yet, create more questions!
